Semester 2: Examine industrialization, civil rights, and America’s emergence as a global power.
Semester 2 of 2 – Students focus on the history of North America and, in particular, the history of the United States. Before Europeans knew that North America existed, indigenous civilizations thrived throughout the continent. Students learn how colonial life led to early attempts at self-government and how European influence continues to this day. As they witness the expansion of US borders, students discover how the desire for land and resources led to the removal of native populations, wars with neighbors, and annexations. Students see the impact of civil war and witness the struggle of slavery and America’s emergence as an industrial powerhouse. In their study of the twentieth century, students trace the reasons for and outcomes of the civil rights movement and consider the role of the United States as a world power.

EdisonLearnNow (ELN) offers self-paced, high-quality online courses for students looking to supplement their education. Whether you’re taking a course for credit recovery, acceleration, or enrichment, our flexible options help meet your needs.
All ELN courses are self-paced.
Students may take as long as needed to complete a course. If needed, we can align the course with a specific school schedule and adjust dates as the student progresses.
No prerequisites are required for any ELN course.
Yes! If you’d like a syllabus for a specific course, let us know, and we’ll be happy to provide it.
The process is simple:
All courses are asynchronous, meaning students may work independently with all-inclusive, self-contained courses. Our curriculum includes multiple learning tools to engage every kind of learner, including videos, visuals, and plenty of practice – especially in math courses! Our goal is to provide learning opportunities that meet the needs of students in any situation, meaning flexibility is core to what we do.
If your student would like to meet live with their teacher, they can always request a Personalized Live Session (PLI). PLIs give the student a chance to ask specific questions in a one-on-one format. We also have office hours for each subject daily, where a student may jump into a Zoom room with one of our full-time teachers.
Yes! Coordinating with your district is helpful for us; however, it is not required. We recommend that you reach out to your district prior to enrollment.
Some school districts already use EdisonLearning courses. If you’re currently enrolled in a district that uses Edison courses, contact your school’s advisory team to complete enrollment.
Every school has different policies regarding transfer credits. We recommend speaking with your school counselor to confirm before enrolling.

At this time, we do not offer discounts or payment plans. We structure our courses as a one-time purchase that allows the student to work at their own pace, without ongoing fees or monthly charges.
