Simple machines have been around for centuries. A machine is anything that makes work easier. Simple machines include levers and the combination of a wheel and an axle. Simple machines can come together to make complex machines; a motor added to a machine allows it to work automatically. Mechanical engineers develop the machines people use daily. Mechanical engineers learn how to harness forces and energy and support loads. In this course, you will learn how to apply the laws of physics related to motion, forces, and energy. This course will give you a new appreciation for the ways that structures are made and the ways that loads are supported.

EdisonLearnNow (ELN) offers self-paced, high-quality online courses for students looking to supplement their education. Whether you’re taking a course for credit recovery, acceleration, or enrichment, our flexible options help meet your needs.
All ELN courses are self-paced.
Students may take as long as needed to complete a course. If needed, we can align the course with a specific school schedule and adjust dates as the student progresses.
No prerequisites are required for any ELN course.
Yes! If you’d like a syllabus for a specific course, let us know, and we’ll be happy to provide it.
The process is simple:
All courses are asynchronous, meaning students may work independently with all-inclusive, self-contained courses. Our curriculum includes multiple learning tools to engage every kind of learner, including videos, visuals, and plenty of practice – especially in math courses! Our goal is to provide learning opportunities that meet the needs of students in any situation, meaning flexibility is core to what we do.
If your student would like to meet live with their teacher, they can always request a Personalized Live Session (PLI). PLIs give the student a chance to ask specific questions in a one-on-one format. We also have office hours for each subject daily, where a student may jump into a Zoom room with one of our full-time teachers.
Yes! Coordinating with your district is helpful for us; however, it is not required. We recommend that you reach out to your district prior to enrollment.
Some school districts already use EdisonLearning courses. If you’re currently enrolled in a district that uses Edison courses, contact your school’s advisory team to complete enrollment.
Every school has different policies regarding transfer credits. We recommend speaking with your school counselor to confirm before enrolling.

At this time, we do not offer discounts or payment plans. We structure our courses as a one-time purchase that allows the student to work at their own pace, without ongoing fees or monthly charges.
