Semester 1: Focus on overall wellness, fitness principles, nutrition, and the movements that drive physical performance.
Semester 1 of 2 – The physical education course focuses on the wellness of the entire individual, both physically and emotionally. Students will learn to make good decisions to promote overall wellness for the rest of their lives. They begin with an overview of wellness and all of the components of physical fitness. They will look at the principles of designing a fitness program. Students then explore general motor skills, as well as the specialized movements used in sports. The course transitions into a discussion on nutrition. Students will learn the national guidelines for proper nutrition and the foods that fit into those guidelines. They will learn how nutrition affects physical fitness and how it combines with activity to promote a healthy body composition. Students will examine the connections between the cardiovascular and respiratory systems and the exercises that keep those systems healthy. Students will explore the principles of strength training and flexibility. Being part of a team is a part of physical activity that transcends the classroom. Students will learn the skills and behaviors expected of a good teammate. They will then examine the principles of several sports, both team and individual. Students will revisit components of fitness to design their own exercise plans that they can execute safely. They will learn about the value of an exercise program on every part of the person. These benefits should encourage students to maintain regular fitness programs for the rest of their lives.
A parent portal is available to provide visibility into student grades, academic progress, and communications. Parents may also message teachers and the student’s advisor directly through the platform.

EdisonLearnNow (ELN) offers self-paced, high-quality online courses for students looking to supplement their education. Whether you’re taking a course for credit recovery, acceleration, or enrichment, our flexible options help meet your needs.
All ELN courses are self-paced.
Students may take as long as needed to complete a course. If needed, we can align the course with a specific school schedule and adjust dates as the student progresses.
No prerequisites are required for any ELN course.
Yes! If you’d like a syllabus for a specific course, let us know, and we’ll be happy to provide it.
The process is simple:
All courses are asynchronous, meaning students may work independently with all-inclusive, self-contained courses. Our curriculum includes multiple learning tools to engage every kind of learner, including videos, visuals, and plenty of practice – especially in math courses! Our goal is to provide learning opportunities that meet the needs of students in any situation, meaning flexibility is core to what we do.
If your student would like to meet live with their teacher, they can always request a Personalized Live Session (PLI). PLIs give the student a chance to ask specific questions in a one-on-one format. We also have office hours for each subject daily, where a student may jump into a Zoom room with one of our full-time teachers.
Yes! Coordinating with your district is helpful for us; however, it is not required. We recommend that you reach out to your district prior to enrollment.
Some school districts already use EdisonLearning courses. If you’re currently enrolled in a district that uses Edison courses, contact your school’s advisory team to complete enrollment.
Every school has different policies regarding transfer credits. We recommend speaking with your school counselor to confirm before enrolling.

At this time, we do not offer discounts or payment plans. We structure our courses as a one-time purchase that allows the student to work at their own pace, without ongoing fees or monthly charges.
