Journey through the cosmos — from planets and moons to black holes, galaxies, and the origins of the universe.
Astronomy is a fascinating journey through the cosmos. The course begins with the celestial objects closest to home, scanning the solar system to provide students with an overview of the planets, moons, asteroids, and comets that revolve around the Sun. The course then moves beyond the solar system to explain the characteristics of our galaxy, the Milky Way. Students may be amazed to learn about the sheer size of this system and other galaxies nearby, and about the formation and death of stars, supernovas, black holes, and theoretical wormholes. Finally, the course reaches to the edges of time and space to investigate the properties of the universe as a whole, as students learn about theories explaining the beginning of existence and the expansion of the universe. Students also learn about Einstein’s theory of relativity, time travel, and the search for extra-solar planets.

A parent portal is available to provide visibility into student grades, academic progress, and communications. Parents may also message teachers and the student’s advisor directly through the platform.

All ELN courses are self-paced.
Students may take as long as needed to complete a course. If needed, we can align the course with a specific school schedule and adjust dates as the student progresses.
No prerequisites are required for any ELN course.

The process is simple:
All courses are asynchronous, meaning students may work independently with all-inclusive, self-contained courses. Our curriculum includes multiple learning tools to engage every kind of learner, including videos, visuals, and plenty of practice – especially in math courses! Our goal is to provide learning opportunities that meet the needs of students in any situation, meaning flexibility is core to what we do.
If your student would like to meet live with their teacher, they can always request a Personalized Live Session (PLI). PLIs give the student a chance to ask specific questions in a one-on-one format. We also have office hours for each subject daily, where a student may jump into a Zoom room with one of our full-time teachers.
Yes! Coordinating with your district is helpful for us; however, it is not required. We recommend that you reach out to your district prior to enrollment.
Some school districts already use EdisonLearning courses. If you’re currently enrolled in a district that uses Edison courses, contact your school’s advisory team to complete enrollment.
Every school has different policies regarding transfer credits. We recommend speaking with your school counselor to confirm before enrolling.

At this time, we do not offer discounts or payment plans. We structure our courses as a one-time purchase that allows the student to work at their own pace, without ongoing fees or monthly charges.
