Semester 1 of 2 – Economics is the study of how a society’s wealth is produced, distributed, and consumed. Personal finance is a skill set for making financial decisions. This course combines these subjects to provide an overview of how people interact with the economy. The first half of the course discusses general economic concepts such as supply and demand, capitalism, and money. The second part of the course helps students develop practical financial skills. It discusses decision-making, investing, banking skills, credit, debt, and taxes. The course concludes with practical tips for buying goods and services, paying for education, and living in the digital economy.
