Semester 2 of 2 – Credit Recovery Course: In US Government, students examine the intricacies of US government from its philosophical origins to its practical evolution over time. Beginning with the colonial period, students assess the reasoning behind the US Constitution. Federal and state powers are compared, as is the authority granted to each of the three branches of the US government. Other concepts covered include the legislative process, controversies related to the Bill of Rights, and independent government agencies. The course concludes with an examination of interest groups, media outlets, and political parties in the electoral process in order to better understand the factors that determine how people vote.
